About the Project

CRGA has a long-term working relationship with the Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore City.  We are currently working with them in connection with a number of projects, including the development of a new facility recently constructed at the intersection of North Broadway and Ashland Street in Baltimore City.  CRGA was responsible for developing both the space program as well as the design of the building shell and interior. The building will house a number of different pediatric mental/behavioral health programs.   This new building was designed to meet LEED Silver.

Spaces developed include provider offices for one-on-one interaction/observation with patients, group therapy rooms, family counseling offices, specialty spaces, and provider offices.  Our programming services included both meetings with the providers as well as tours of their existing spaces, which are currently located in a number of different facilities.  Our staff developed a number of options for the size and configuration of the building to house these programs.

CRGA has also completed a number of other mental/behavioral health projects for KKI including multiple projects/studies in their inpatient building on North Broadway and six satellite facilities located in Baltimore, Columbia and Anne Arundel County.

Additionally, our firm completed a new building for them on North Broadway which houses program support spaces.  All of these projects involved program development and many of the projects involved the renovation of existing buildings.

Perhaps the most unusual of these projects involved the design of a feeding disorder program which was constructed in an existing parking garage.  A portion of the space was beneath a garage ramp and required careful consideration from both a layout and technical perspective.
