Quality Control

& Code Compliance

Preparation of construction documents requires both knowledgeable staff preparing the documents and rigorous checking of documents for completeness and accuracy, including multi-disciplinary coordination of current code requirements and work by all consultants.

CRGA has become well-known among clients, vendors, consultants, and even fellow architects for the high quality of our construction documents. This level of quality is a result of our Continuous Quality Improvement Program, which has become integral to the firm’s culture and workflow. To achieve this high standard of construction documents, we set quality control checkpoints throughout the design process to ensure that all project scope has been properly covered and that projects are effectively coordinated among the design team.

The quality assurance process begins with a thorough understanding of the client’s budget and the project goals. Throughout the design process, concepts and individual project component requirements are measured against goals and budgets. A successful project requires a balance of these elements. Quality assurance is all too often looked at from a drawing review process. It also requires a constant monitoring of the key project goals.

With respect to quality assurance, CRGA utilizes a formal Quality Control Assurance plan. A firm Quality Control Manual has been developed, and our quality control process is integral to the firm’s culture and has become a Continuous Quality Improvement Program.

Our quality control services ensure that the project scope has been properly addressed and that projects are effectively coordinated among the design team.

Preparation of Construction Documents requires both knowledgeable staff preparing the documents and rigorous checking of documents for completeness and accuracy, including coordination of current code requirements and work by all consultants. Our team plans to use various tools to assure this out-come on all projects. Our staff is regularly updated on construction detailing, specialized construction methods, coordination with specifications, and other quality control tools to ensure the project team maintains the skills, knowledge, and efficiency necessary to carry out the project scope in a complete and timely manner.

Our team uses quality control checklists to provide a framework within which the project team will operate. These checklists include project standards and procedures that are to be used as the basis for all work being completed. Electronic as well as a bound compilation of these checklists and all other quality control procedures will be made available to the design team. A constant monitoring of consultants work is also a critical key to the success of our quality assurance program.

A database of inter-disciplinary coordination issues and corresponding takeaways from previous projects is maintained. We use this “lessons learned” database to prevent such issues from reoccurring. Consistently monitoring interdisciplinary work and communication enhances the efficiency of the team and the accuracy of the Construction Documents.

CRGA takes a proactive approach to quality control and code compliance to ensure the safest, most durable, and most efficient design solutions possible for our clients. The quality of our construction documents is directly related to the quality of our design process – in order to reach such high standards for the end product, we hold ourselves to high standards throughout its creation.
